Michelle Brough is SBC’s cheerful QA/QC & Compliance Assistant. Always with a smile on her face, Michelle ensures our customers are smiling too!
Tell us a bit about yourself Michelle?
Suffolk has been home to me all of my life. I’ve always worked locally although my career to date has taken me on my travels. From working with a property developer on an industrial park, the electricity board, my father’s coffee business to being a Relationship Manager for 6 years selling Woodchippers. The beauty industry is a very different place to the one I’d known for many years and have now been at SBC for over 3 years, starting in a PA role to cover maternity leave and moving into the QA/QC once I came back from my own maternity leave in 2015.
I grew up in a village called Elmswell and now live with my partner Lee, a paramedic and our two little boys, Austin (Batman) and Isaac (mini Superman ) on the outskirts of Ipswich. I much prefer the hussle and bussle of town life and have recently moved to our forever family home, a project for us, in need of much updating!
What’s your area of expertise?
I have always been very customer focused and want to ensure customer satisfaction from supplier to customer within QC at SBC. It’s all about ensuring the product, packaging and delivery are met for our customers.
Do you have a personal beauty tip to share?
SLEEP - Always get a good night sleep. With my two little boys keeping me awake for many a night, I certainly don’t get enough. A good night’s sleep has always really helped my skin and improves the look of my dark circles.
What is your favourite SBC product?
I’m hoping it comes in a travel size for my hand bag, it smells delicious.
Do you have a real beauty no-no or bug bear?
Too much make up! I really don’t like to see attractive young girls, masking their natural good looks with lots of make-up.
What goes on in your average day at SBC?
I work in QC so anything can happen, whether it’s reviewing a range of products, checking stocks from packaging to labels through to arranging health and safety equipment. Some of the team here are Polish, so integrating a new language into work on a daily basis is an enjoyable challenge.
Desert Island Disc?
I’m always dancing around the house with my boys, mainly to Peppa Pig live show songs or nursery rhymes but it’d have to be a classic - something I could really dance to. I’d be dancing on the island (and trying to sing) to Queen ‘Don’t stop me now!’
It has to be Spicy Thai Chicken Noodles cooked by my other half, he is a fabulous cook.
SBC is based in Suffolk, what is your favourite Suffolk spot?
There are just too many to choose from. My favourites are sitting in the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds having an ice cream with my Nan, watching my children play happily in the sandpit and play area, building sand castles on the beach at Felixstowe and Christchurch Park for a picnic and feeding the ducks. Basically wherever I can be enjoying family life and watching my two boys have fun.
Describe your perfect day?
A warm sunny day waking up early, making a picnic and packing the car with everything for the beach with all the family, grandparents, sister and niece and nephew. Then watching the boys play with their cousins and explore the sand for things to make the best sandcastles.
